Merton Partnership Approves Grant for Outreach Work
£73,000 grant for the Citizen's Advice Bureau (CAB) was announced by the Merton partnership. The purpose of the grant is to provide support to residents of the borough, affected by welfare reforms.
With the funding, Merton's CAB will be able to provide training and information to the community sector in Merton. It can also offer advice at a number of community meetings, provide a source for other public and voluntary sector information and advice social services in the borough. The CAB will work in close partnership with the Merton Voluntary Services Council in order to ensure that the newly introduced services reach people in greatest need at a local level.
Th current nationwide changes to welfare benefits will affect most of claimants, according to the cleaners in Merton. Yet a lot of people do not understand how the changes will affect them on a personal level. The same is true foe many voluntary organisations across the borough, who work with vulnerable and disabled residents.
